Travel Training

Support someone to travel independently

Can you use public transport and could you help someone regain their confidence using buses and trains?

We need volunteers to ride into town with someone, share a brew and ride back with them. It’s a great way for you to get to know people and to pass on your knowledge and skills to someone not quite as confident. Two or three hours of your time each week can help the person regain skills that reduce social isolation

We offer training in all aspects of the travel buddy role, regular meeting with other volunteers to share experiences, support at all times and we cover the cost of your travel and a brew.

Stagecoach Bus

Three to four hours per month to help someone travel using public transport. If you are unsure please give us a call and we can give you more information.

Is there a minimum duration?
No – you can do as little or as much as you like and we recognise that volunteering your time is a gift.

Where is it?
Our travel training usually happens in  Wigan and Leigh  however occasionally we may help someone travel out of Borough.

How do I help?
If you are interested in helping someone to travel independently we offer training and support to skill you up before you help someone on a one to one basis.
